Sustainability Advisory Committee – Construction EV Charger Pledge
The Associated General Contractors of Massachusetts (AGC MA) is asking for your support to enhance the sustainability of the Massachusetts construction industry. Among other initiatives, we hope to accelerate the transition of construction sites to allow for greater use of electrified vehicles and equipment.
The undersigned companies are committed to expanding their sustainable building practices by promoting the adoption of battery powered vehicles, heavy equipment, and power tools. There is not one solution which will make construction sustainable, but there are several opportunities which would motivate and inspire the industry towards this goal.
We are requesting that all manufacturers and vendors of jobsite construction trailers and temporary modular building include, as standard, at least one exterior NEMA 14-50 commercial grade receptacle.
The science is clear, climate change is here. Social and regulatory pressures will continue to grow and force every industry to adapt. Electrification of the transportation sector is already happening, but temporary construction sites still do not have charging capacity for personal vehicles or new electric heavy equipment. Providing these outlets would send a strong signal that the industry is preparing for this inevitable transition and allow companies and individuals to get ahead of the curve.
