PLEASE NOTE:
In order to take a renewal course, an individual must be a holder of a Massachusetts unrestricted Construction Supervisor License and in good standing with the State of Massachusetts and the Board of Building Regulations and Standards (BBRS).
Unrestricted License Holders – 12 CEU’s required to renew.
You will receive your license renewal form approximately 60 days before your expiration date. It is best to complete the required CEU’s by this time. If you do not receive the renewal contact the State at (617) 727-3200.
Licensees may acquire up to a maximum of six hours of continuing education via on-line training. Remaining hours shall be acquired through in-person, classroom training. CSSL may complete all six hours on-line. A Licensee will be required to pass a final exam plus periodic exams through the on-line course.
Courses taken after January 1, 2018 will be subject to the on-line/in-class requirements.

If you have misplaced your certificate call the AGC Coordinator and request another certificate *A fee may be charged for replacement certificates.
Massachusetts has mandated that all holders of Supervisors' Licenses in the state be required to take 12 hours of classes every two years before you renew your license. There are five mandatory one-hour classes.
*COVID-19 Renewal Alert
On April 14, 2020, the BBRS has approved suspending the minimum 6 hour IN CLASS requirement for a period of 90 days after the state of emergency has been terminated for licenses renewing during that time. All 10 or 12 hours may be completed online through previously approved online classes, live webinars or any virtual platform.
* Changes to CSL Renewal Requirements begin January 1, 2018
The Board of Building Regulations and Standards (BBRS) approved certain changes to construction supervisor license continuing education requirements as part of the Ninth Edition of the State Building Code (780 CMR). The changes, which are appended to the end of this document, go into effect on January 1, 2018.
Construction Supervisor (CS) and Construction Supervisor One- and Two- Family Dwellings (CSFA) will be required to complete four hours of Code Review, courses shall include specific concentration to requirements of the license category. For instance, One- and Two-Family license courses shall focus, but not be limited to, residential code requirements. Specialty Construction Supervisor Licensees will be required to complete two hours of Code Review, courses shall include a specific concentration to requirements of the license category. For instance, Residential Roof Covering license courses shall focus, but not be limited to, roof covering, underlayment and similar code requirements.
